Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady
Riviera Maya
Nov 19-24, 2023
This was our first sailing with Virgin Voyages and our second cruise. Our primary goal was to relax with the secondary goal to see if I got seasick again. We were excited for this new adventure.
Highlight of this Cruise

Splash of Romance package was money well spent. The package included early boarding, specialty daily juice, a 3 hour spa pass, a bottle of champagne, exclusive cocktail hour, and special sweet treats in our cabin on two different days. The exclusive cocktail hour was held at the Perch with champagne, live music, and a photo booth. This experience was romantic, fun, and relaxing and why it was the highlight of this cruise.
I’m not really a Spa kind of person but since it was part of our package we made reservations for our three hour spa pass. The spa pass included the Steam Room, Salt Room, Sauna, Mud room, hydrotherapy pool, cold plunge tub, and a hot tub. This was our first time in a mud room and my favorite part of the spa experience.
Food
Dining on a Virgin Voyages cruise is a Foodie’s dream. We couldn’t wait to try all the restaurants. We had reservations every night and were ready for many food experiences.
The Galley has many different places to order food. It resembles a food hall and food is made fresh. I love the chorizo burrito at Let’s Taco Bout It.

Razzle Dazzle was our choice for the first night after the sail away party and the next day for brunch. Both menus had many vegetarian options and a naughty section for meat lovers. The food was delicious.
.

Test Kitchen had two rotating menus and since this was a Thanksgiving sailing there were specialty options such as turkey. This multi course meal was a fun dining experience. I chose the wine pairings with my courses and my husband went with the cocktail pairings. The drinks truly complemented the food.

Pink Agave was Mexican food with many delicious sounding menu options. We wanted to try everything but narrowed it down to a few dishes each.

The Wake was a steakhouse offering brunch and dinner. We made it for brunch but ran out of nights on this short cruise to make it for dinner.
Gunbae was interesting with the drinking games at a table with people you just met. It was definitely a way to get to know your table mates. The Korean cuisine was good but the atmosphere was surprisingly smoky.

Extra Virgin was our pick for our last night. Since it was our last night I decided to splurge with the porchetta. It was a treat yourself item that cost extra but it was delicious.

Entertainment
.
Scarlet Night took place all over the ship. We started in the Roundabout where there was the story of Scarlet Night and a Happenings Cast dance performance. We watched another version of Scarlet Night called Octopus Garden in the Red Room. This version was told by the hostess and then she followed with a song. The main event was the pool party that started off with the cast dancing around the pool. After their performance sailors were invited into the pool to dance with them. We didn’t make it to the late party as we chose to sleep instead.
We opted to relax in our cabin most nights after dinner so we didn’t make it to any of the night shows. We did catch a show during the last day called Around the World with the Diva. It was very entertaining and kinda made me regret not seeing some of the other shows. We will have to make it to more shows on our next cruise.
Cabin
We were in a Central Sea Terrace Cabin (13190A). I spent most of my cabin time in the red hammock on our balcony. Words cannot express how much I loved hanging out here listening to the ocean. The cabin had plenty of storage for all of our things, an iPad to control TV and lighting, and a table with a mirror to get ready.
Ports of Call
We didn’t book any excursions but we did get off the ship and explore the ports.
Cozumel was a new adventure for us as it was the first time we visited Mexico. We spent our time exploring the port and eating local food.
Bimini beach club was beautiful. We relaxed by the beach, grabbed some lunch, and then headed back to the ship early to check out a less crowded pool.
This was the most relaxed vacation I’ve ever had and we might just become regulars. We got one step closer by booking a cruise for Christmas 2024.
